Issues

Bruce Starr is a conservative Republican, with a strong public service record.

Economy

Starr is a small business owner engaged in multiple sectors of our economy. He is a family farmer, fence contractor, and founder of a Christian preschool company. While private sector experience is lacking among many lawmakers today, Bruce’s grasp is well-rounded. He believes Oregon has strayed dangerously far from its pioneer roots that once made it attractive for aspiring small business owners.

Education

The only pathway forward for parents and students in education is to provide more plentiful and affordable choices. Starr is entirely supportive of school vouchers. Our public school system has seen abysmal results compared to other states, and as a result, too many young people are beginning life at too low a starting point.

Transportation

Bruce Starr was regarded as an expert on transportation policy during his time in the legislature. His most significant accomplishment was Phase 1 funding of the Newberg-Dundee bypass. There are still more phases to secure, and he will make securing this funding one of his chief priorities. Bruce has remained a proponent of newer and better roads, often succeeding against Portland-based special interests that seek to penalize car usage and socially engineer more residents onto public transit.

Life

Starr is Pro-Life and has remained a constant advocate for the unborn. Throughout his entire time in public service, he has received endorsements by trusted pro-life organizations.

Second Amendment

“…Shall not be infringed” means something. Starr has never wavered protecting Oregonians’ rights to purchase, own, and keep firearms and ammunition.

Medical Freedom

Parents have every right to decide what is in their children’s best interest. Starr opposes legislation aimed at driving a wedge between parents and their children regarding key medical decisions. He also does not believe in weaponizing our public school system to simply generate public health statistical outcomes.
